Offline Lists to Look up Online

Inevitably whenever I’m offline there are moments in conversation where I’ll say, “We should look that up.” Here are the things to look up from this weekend’s trip to Connecticut. The ones we couldn’t remember are emphasized. (Oh, the great lakes one is embarrassing–I should have just sung The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald until I got it.)

What are the five boroughs of NYC?

  • The Bronx
  • Brooklyn
  • Manhattan
  • Queens
  • Staten Island

What are the five Great Lakes?

  • Michigan
  • Superior
  • Huron
  • Erie
  • Ontario

What are the three components of concrete?

  • Cement
  • Aggregate
  • Water

Is this a common habit, or does everyone just use their smartphone to look stuff up immediately?

iPhone solves this problem–if purchased, you’ll never again think of anything you’re interested in researching when away from a computer.
