Upsizing the border–running some numbers

The US-Mexico border is 1951 miles long. Let’s suppose those pesky foreigners will cross any time of the day, so we need to staff the border 24×7–that’s 3 shifts. Safety first! So we have to use the buddy system–that’s 2 people per shift. What’s 1951 divided by 6000 people divided by 3 shifts divided by 2 people per shift? George Bush wants to secure the US side of the US-Mexican border by equivalently adding 1 monitor every 1.951 miles. Keep an eye out for the KBR contract to build 2000 new observation towers.
